Sidney&Co Limited (Company No. 09060206), trading as Sidney & Co Estate Agents, is the Data Controller for the personal information you provide to us. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number ZA064033.
The information we collect
- Contact details — name, address, telephone number and email address.
- Identity and Right to Rent information — passport, driving licence, biometric residence permit or Home Office share code, and date of birth.
- Financial and employment information — income, employer, bank statements, credit history and guarantor details, where you apply for a tenancy.
- Property information — the properties you own, rent, view or enquire about.
- Website information — enquiry form content, chat messages, and cookie data as described in our Cookie Policy.
Why we use it and our lawful bases
We process your data to assess tenancy and purchase applications, carry out identity and Right to Rent checks, obtain references and credit checks, market and manage properties, comply with our legal obligations (including anti-money-laundering under the Money Laundering Regulations 2017), and administer any tenancy or sale that is agreed. Our lawful bases are contract, legal obligation, and legitimate interests (fraud prevention and business administration). Where we rely on consent — for example marketing emails — you may withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We share data with referencing providers, The Deposit Protection Scheme, landlords or vendors as relevant to your transaction, our IT and website providers, and — where required by law — public authorities. We do not sell your personal data. Where you ask us to introduce you to a solicitor, mortgage adviser or surveyor, we share only the details needed to make that introduction; referral arrangements are disclosed on our Other Services page.
How long we keep it
Personal data is retained for up to 6 years after the end of any tenancy, sale or relationship with us, for legal, regulatory and tax purposes, and is then securely destroyed. Complaint records are kept for 6 years from the date of our final response, as set out in our complaints procedure. Unsuccessful applications are held for up to 12 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent where we rely on it.
